Burnet saxifrage is a perennial herbaceous plant of the family Umbelliferae (Umbelliferae). The root is spindle-shaped, with several succulent branches and unpleasant smell. The root head is covered with fibrous remains of dead leaf leaves. In a transverse cut at the sliver site, the root is colored blue (chamazulene). Stem is up to 60 cm high, almost smooth, dry, slightly branched, at the top bare. The basal leaves are long, non-chipped. The fruit is broad-eyed, decaying when matured longitudinally in 2 halves. Blooms in the summer.
In Bulgaria we find the dry and grassy stony meadows and slopes, the pastures, the bushes, etc. in forest and mountain areas.
Roots are used (Radix Pimpinellae). Picking up is March-April and September-October. The roots of the older plants are dug in the spring before plant growth or in autumn after ripening of the fruit.
In medicine, wild anise as a secretolytic agent in the catarrh of the respiratory tract - cough, asthma, kidney and bladder disease, digestive organs disease. It is used externally for the treatment of vitality.
Application Wild anise is also found in the liqueur industry to taste different drinks and bitter liqueurs.
