Common mallow is an herbaceous plant from the mallow family (Malvaceae). The species is botanically accepted as Malva sylvestris L. and is native from Europe to Central Asia and the Western Himalayas, including Bulgaria.
The plant develops an erect or ascending stem, large rounded to kidney-shaped leaves and mauve to violet flowers with darker veins. The flowers and leaves are valuable herbal raw materials for teas, syrups, extracts, cosmetic formulations and products designed to provide a soothing effect on mucous membranes and skin.
