Eyebright is a small annual herbaceous plant from the family Orobanchaceae. The species is botanically accepted as Euphrasia officinalis L. and is native to Europe, including Bulgaria, as well as parts of Western Siberia and Türkiye.
The plant develops a delicate upright or branched stem, opposite toothed leaves and small white to pale lilac flowers with darker veins and a yellow mark on the lower lip. The aerial parts, known as Euphrasiae herba, are a traditionally used herbal raw material for herbal blends, extracts, powders and eye-area or skin-care products.

Eyebright contains mainly flavonoids, including quercetin and luteolin derivatives, tannins, iridoid glycosides, phenolic compounds and volatile constituents. EMA documentation lists Euphrasia officinalis L. and Euphrasia rostkoviana Hayne as botanical sources of Euphrasiae herba.
