Silver Linden (Tilia tomentosa Moench)

Silver linden is a deciduous tree from the Malvaceae family, botanically known as Tilia tomentosa Moench. The species is native to Southeastern Europe and is also found in Bulgaria.

The tree reaches around 20–35 metres in height. Its leaves are green on the upper surface and covered with pale hairs underneath, giving the tree its characteristic silvery appearance. The flowers are fragrant, pale yellow and arranged in typically pendent inflorescences. The flowers with bracts are the main raw material for teas, extracts, floral water, linden absolute and cosmetic formulations.
