Smoke tree is a deciduous shrub or small tree from the Anacardiaceae family. The species is botanically accepted as Cotinus coggygria Scop. and is native from Southern and Central Europe to Asia, including Bulgaria. ,

The plant usually reaches 2–5 metres in height. Its leaves are oval to broadly elliptic, green to bluish-green, while the flowers are small, yellowish and arranged in panicle-like inflorescences. After flowering, the inflorescences develop the characteristic smoke-like appearance. The leaves are the main herbal raw material for extracts, oral-care products, external formulations and cosmetic products. ,
