Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare L.) - Dried flowers and aerial parts

Tansy is a perennial herb from the daisy family (Asteraceae), widely distributed across Europe, including Bulgaria. It grows naturally in shrublands, rocky areas, woodland edges, and open grassy habitats at elevations of up to around 1,800 metres.

The plant develops a short horizontal rhizome and an upright stem that can reach up to approximately 1 metre in height. The leaves are alternate, deeply divided, and dark green on the upper side. Its flower heads are golden yellow and arranged in clusters at the top of the stems, while the whole plant has a strong characteristic aroma.

Tansy is a well-known aromatic and botanical raw material used in the production of herbal preparations, plant extracts, and specialised formulations for external use.
